There is a front pocket lined with the plaid as well. The strap on the back is adjustable and can be connected via a lobster strap to D-Rings on either the left or the right side giving you the flexibility of how you want to wear it. I like to wear it in front and not in back, but if you like to wear it on the back, go ahead. It is adjustable and you can do that. This is 2018.you have the freedom to do that! There is a magnetic closure that covers the front pocket just slightly so that it helps to keep items in that pocket. The front pocket is a little over 6 inches tall so it fits a phone very easily as well as some keys. The bottom is boxed so that it gives you some depth to the bag allowing you to put ever more junk inside it. I think you will love it.
