Card Size: 3.5x 4 STORAGE CONDITIONS AND STORAGE LIFE A revolution in Mold and Yeast testing, the R-CARD® test method offers the most convenient, streamlined way to detect not only the presence of mold and yeast, but also the number of colonies. Completely self-contained, requiring almost no additional equipment Easy to interpret results Fast results start showing in as little as 24 hours (incubated) Molds and Yeast will show as green/teal colonies How It Works Save time by not having to prepare media or agar dishes. This test features a dye that will give a green or teal color to colonies of yeast and mold and an inhibitor to eliminate the growth of non-target organisms. Unlike most Yeast and Mold testing media on the market, R-CARD® rapid tests require almost no additional equipment and offer an extremely easy user-experience. For Testing Yeast and Mold On/In Surfaces or Food & Beverages - A liquid sample is pipetted on the center of the card, and covered by the top film or sterile water and may be pipetted on the center of the card and the sample may be stirred into the water after collection on a sterile swab moistened with sterile water. The liquid sample will spread laterally automatically within 1 min. The card is then incubated at 25-30°C for 24-72 hr. In ambient light, green/teal colonies (CFUs) are indicative of the target organisms. Molds form circular spreading colonies and yeasts are more compact and non-spreading. For Testing Yeast and Mold In The Air - Lift the top piece of the R-CARD®. 2 mL sterile water is pipetted to the circular pad on the bottom piece of the R-CARD®. Mold spores settle from the air during the chosen exposure time, and adhere to the moistened absorbent pad. After the predetermined exposure time, 1 mL of sterile water is pipetted to the pad and the top piece is loosened and allowed to flop over onto the wet pad. The liquid will spread laterally automatically within 1 min. The card is then incubated at 25-30°C for 24-72 hr. In ambient light, green/teal colonies (CFUs) are indicative of the target organisms. For quickest results, it’s best to incubate your sample at 25-30°C for 24-72 hours (Molds and yeast grow well in this temperature range). Results will start showing in as little as 24 hours, but we recommend waiting until 72 hours to get an accurate count. To read your results, simply count the number of teal/green dots which show the number of Yeast and Mold colonies. For more detailed instructions, please check out the PDFs below. Remember, we offer free technical support on any stage of the process and would be happy to instruct and advise you. The cards are completely self-contained and don’t require petri dishes, agar, or other gear that’s fragile and prone to leak. Simply place your sample on the card and wait 1-3 minutes for the liquid sample to solidify between the two layers. This prevents it from dripping or leaking. Cards can easily be stored in a backpack or travel bag. It’s also incredibly easy to read R-CARD® results. They not only detect the presence of molds and yeast, but also the number of colonies. Simply count the number of green/teal dots that appear after the appropriate incubation period. Additional Equipment Needed While the R-CARD® rapid tests are completely self-contained, you will need a sterile dropper or syringe to dispense your liquid sample onto the card and a sterile swab to collect the samples to test. Once your sample is collected, it’s recommended to use an incubator to encourage growth, but not required.
